SummerKeys Presents an Evening of Celtic Music

This week's Mary Potterton Memorial Concert will feature an evening of Celtic music with Sue Richards, harp and Andrea Hoag, fiddle to take place at Lubec's Congregational Christian Church on Wednesday August 24th at 7:30 P.M.   A big difference between classical and folk or traditional music experiences is that classical music is a written tradition and folk an oral tradition.  Folk music, therefore, often changes significantly over time and geography.  More often than not, folk music is “anonymous”.  Folk music's intent is usually two fold; 1) to express a group identity and 2) assert an ethnic or national identity.  The audience will be treated to an evening of 17th, 18th and 19th century traditional Irish, Scottish and Scandinavian folk music to include jigs, reels and strathspeys.

Family Fisheries Restaurant and Take-Out will host this concert's intermission refreshments!

All concerts are FREE and take place upstairs at 7:30 P.M. at the Congregational Christian Church in Lubec.  (Piano tuning donations are gratefully accepted).   Intermission refreshments are provided by local businesses.
