September 11 is Patriot Day and Grandparent’s Day - call your grandmother or grandfather and tell them how much you love them.

Thursday at the Second Baptist Church Jason Runnels will be in concert at 6:30 p.m. followed by food and fellowship.

On Sunday, September 11 a public breakfast is being served at the Odd Fellows’ Hall in Baileyville. Drop in.

St. Anne’s Parish has been invited to the Murray’s Cottage in Alexander following church on the Sunday, September 11. Bring a side salad or dessert. Call myself or Patsy Beckett for directions.

Having a Mary Heart in a Martha World - Ladies’ Conference was very successful at the Baring Baptist Church last week for two days. Sherri Oliver was the organizer.

Pastory Bobby Oliver and wife Sherri attended the Pastors’ Retreat in Massachusetts last week.

St. Anne’s Sunday School will begin on September 11. 

A Choral Evensong will be on Wednesday, September 14 at 5:00 p.m. at Christ Episcopal Church, 21 Key Street, Eastport. John Newell will conduct a choir of area singers. Edward French will accompany the choir on an organ. Rev. Lynn Rutledge will lead the service.

Thanks for your calls. I know I am hard to catch but I appreciate your messages.  Early morning or late evening is safe to reach me hopefully. There must be some excitement to write about! Let me know.

Hope you all enjoyed the long sunny weekend. The gardens on Main Street are beautiful, still in full bloom. However the path behind the gardens down through to Union Street there is a pile of wood, dead grass, and tree branches that need trimmed.

I did see the street sweeper out last week. We appreciate all the hard work.

I enjoyed reading the Out and About, a write up about Britani Holloway, the proprietor of the 45th Parallel, a gift shop in Perry, Maine. She is a joy to be around, hard worker, friendly and involved in the community. She also has the Urban Moose in Calais and runs the Hospital Gift Shop.


Gary and Denise Marrs are cleaning up at the various car shows. 1st place winners, 2nd place with her motorcycle. Way to go Denise.
