Workshop for Companies Wanting to Expand Business through Government Opportunities

Companies in Washington County looking to expand their business with federal, state and local contracts are urged to attend a free informational session titled ‘Understanding Bids: How to Read and Respond’ in Machias on Wednesday, September 15.

Maine Procurement Technical Assistance Center (PTAC) counselor Dana Delano of Northern Maine Development Commission (NMDC) will explain how to read the details of state, local or federal solicitations for products and services and how to respond with a winning bid proposal.

“Learning how to understand the details of a solicitation can be a bit intimidating to business owners looking to expand their market with government entities,” said Delano. “This workshop will explore the finer details of a solicitation and examine how to respond in a manner that is exactly how they want to receive the bid, both format and content.  Many companies do not provide the information the solicitation is looking to receive, therefore, they do not win awards from government entities.  I want to help make it easier for businesses to succeed in obtaining these awards.”

Maine PTAC provides a variety of government contracting technical assistance services to Maine-based businesses of all sizes.

“From cleaning services, to all types of construction, and even snow plowing; local, state and federal governments are a big consumer of products and services,” added Delano. “Maine PTAC assists local companies in obtaining these opportunities in order to grow their business and our services are provided at no cost.”

The seminar, co-sponsored by Sunrise County Economic Council and Northern Maine Development Commission, will be from 8:30 a.m. – 10 a.m., Thursday, September 15 at SCEC, 53 Prescott Drive, Suite 3, Machias.
