12th Annual Turkey-A-Thon Set for October 14

The holiday season is fast approaching, and for many families facing food insecurity in Washington County, it can be a particularly stressful time of year. To help lessen the burden and provide a healthy holiday meal for those in need, Classic Hits 92.7/95.3FM and The Border 102.9FM, in partnership with Healthy Acadia and sponsored by Dunkin Donuts in Calais and Machias, will be hosting the 12th annual Washington County Turkey-A-Thon on Friday, October 14, 2016.

How it works. On October 14, from 7am to 5pm, seven sites throughout Washington County will be accepting monetary donations that will be used to purchase gift certificates from local grocery stores for Washington County food pantries. The gift certificates will help families in need enjoy a healthy holiday meal. Just $12 can purchase a turkey for a local family in need and donations, in any amount, will help. The partners are challenging all Washington County schools, civic groups, businesses, nonprofit organizations and community members to help them achieve their 2016 goal of 2,500 turkeys.

Please help Classic Hits 92.7/95.3 and Healthy Acadia meet their goal of 2,500 turkeys this year. Stop by and make your donation at one of these locations on Friday, October 16. Your contribution will be recognized on-air at Classic Hits 92.7/95.3 FM, which will be broadcasting live from the Dunkin Donuts studio at VL Tammaro Oil in Calais during the event:
