It’s great to be back to school! In the very short time that we have been back, a lot has already happened. So, read along, and I will try to catch you up.

We have some new staff members this year, and we would like to officially welcome them and introduce them. In grade 1, we have Jodi Andrews, who was a staff member last year, but she has accepted the position of teacher in 1st grade.  In grade 4, Carolyn Tinker has joined us as teacher. In Middle School, Language Arts, and 6th grade homeroom we have Cassie Furtek, and in Science, grade 8 homeroom, Sherry Cox joins our staff. Welcome to our Indian Township family, and we wish you a successful, gratifying school year.

On Monday September 12, we held our Parent / Teacher Meet and Greet from 3:00 to 5:00, and we kicked off our Book Fair’s Grand Opening.  Parents were invited to meet their child’s teacher and view their classroom. Door prizes were given in each class room, and there was a door prize of $100.00 worth of Scholastic products at the book fair. Every adult who bought a book for a child was entered into a drawing. Congratulations to Diane Tomah for winning that prize. Once again, like last year, our school board has agreed to allot each child in the school $20.00 to spend on books. We thank the school board for their support and for assisting us in nurturing a love of reading in our kids. The last day for the Book Fair is Tuesday September 20. Picture Day has come and gone on Thursday Sept. 15. Watch here and on our school web site,, for picture make up day. You can also check our web site for the school calendar, and news of upcoming events.

That’s all the news for this week. Until next week, take care of yourself and never stop learning!
