On the evening of September 15, 2016, Juanita passed away peacefully at her home in Perry, Maine at the age of 78 surrounded by her loving family. 

Juanita was born in Lubec, Maine on October 14, 1937. She was daughter of Edna (Porter) Davis and Maxwell Davis. On August 6, 1957, she married her soul mate, Forrest Carter, in the Christian Temple Church in Lubec. After a few years of living out-of-state, they returned to Washington County, Maine settling in Pembroke. Juanita was a homemaker who devoted her time to raising their three daughters. In 1995, they built their retirement home in Perry where they spent the next 21 years side by side, hand in hand.

Juanita was a humorous, fun-spirited woman, who spent hours laughing with family and friends. Her generosity not only touched the lives of her family, but extended to many friends and anyone in need. Throughout her life, she was an active member of the International  Association of Rebekah, the National Grange of the order of Patrons of Husbandry, American Legion Auxiliary, and an avid local sports team fan. 

Juanita is survived by her husband of 59 years, Forrest Carter; daughters, Elisabeth Beal, Juanita Carter, and Mary Anne Spearin and husband, Ronald; grandchildren, Forrest Beal and companion, Heidi Jones, Tiffany Levasseur and husband, Scott, and Ronald Spearin IV; several great-grandchildren; a great-great grandchild; sister-in-laws, Pauline Cantwell and Helen Redding and husband, William; brother-in-law, Francis Carter and wife, Phyllis; and numerous nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by her brothers, Leroy Davis and Lewis Davis, and her parents, Edna and Maxwell Davis. 


A Celebration of Life is schedule for Saturday, September 24, 2016 at 11 AM at the Ironworks Methodist Church in Pembroke with a reception to follow. All family and friends are welcome to attend and celebrate Juanita’s life. A private family reception will follow at the home of Mary Anne Spearin in Charlotte. In lieu of flowers, the family would prefer donations be sent to the Ironworks Methodist Church in Pembroke, Maine.
