Eastport Ready’s for Pirate Festival & Pirate Family Fun

Ahoy Mates! Eastport is ready for 3 days of frolic and pirate adventure.  Folk from all over will  journey to downtown Eastport to take in the authentic pirate atmosphere, eat lots of good food, and show off their fine pirate attire to friends and family.

New this year is a 150'-long inflatable obstacle course, complete with tires, giant barriers and a huge slide; There is even a vertical wall to scale. There is a challenging hill to climb, and you still must face another obstacle before climbing your way to the top and sliding to victory!

The fun starts on Friday, September 9th, with the judging of the downtown business' pirate décor.   Downtown businesses will host pirate themed parties with dinner and dancing.  Wear your best pirate attire and register at the door of the pirate ball to be named pirate royalty in the costume judging.

Saturday the fun continues with the live entertainment.  Rockin' Ron, the friendly pirate, will perform for your enjoyment.  Explore the encampment of the Brethren of the Granite Coast, a troop of pirates new to the festival, that will create an authentic pirate atmosphere with a flag walk, the sound of cannon fire, period cooking and small arms demonstrations.  “2F Pirates,” Felicity and Fenris, will return to host cutlass (foam) combat training, talk about the age of sail and piracy, and entertain with petty acts of larceny.  Nick Penney, the human marvel, will return to perform his mind-bending acts.  Ronda Cobb's Petting Zoo, along with story-telling, skits and a variety of games, will keep the younger pirates happy.  And be sure to find a prime spot to watch the pirate parade and bed race.  An evening of pirate food and frolic, followed by the fire show and the fireworks, will round a full day of pillaging and fun.

The fun continues with live entertainment on Sunday.  Live music will create a Caribbean mood as you meander through the vendor booths, craft fair, and downtown galleries and shops.  Also available are whale watch tours at Eastport Windjammers.  For a wet and wild time, get into the action with the lobster crate race, or just have fun watching the contestants fall into the harbor.
