Grand Lake Stream

Town News

There was a great event Saturday night (ATV Club). The lasagna with all the fixings was excellent.  Over 100 people were served. They got lots of compliments!  Linda Curtis is a fantastic cook.  The Grand Lake Stream Strumming Wildcats band played.  A 50/50 raffle was held. Free bingo with very nice prizes.   It was a lot of work for our club members, but good fun. Who knows it may be another club annual event.  Not sure how many ATV’ers took advantage of free tours of our trails on Saturday and Sunday. Maybe Sue has the figures.

Another beautiful week in Grand Lake Stream.  A little early fall frost. Just a teaser of what is to come and just in time for the larger fall fairs. This week is the Cumberland Fair and always followed by the Fryberg Fair which is the state of Maine’s largest fair. It is worth the trip. Tuesday, October 4th is senior day so we can get in free. It is not only an agricultural fair but a wide range of crafts and booths of many types. Monday is Lumberman’s Day which is very popular. Both fairs have web sites that can provide lots of details. Hope to see you there.

Big Lake Foliage Paddle: On Wednesday, October 5th, join Downeast Lakes Land Trust Education and Outreach Manager Colin Brown for a group paddle on Big Lake.  Enjoy the spectacular fall colors while weaving through the many islands and coves of this gorgeous Downeast Maine Lake!  Meet at the Big Lake boat launch at the end of Water Street in Grand Lake Stream at 3:00 p.m.  Participants must bring their own boat, paddle, and pfd.  For more information, please contact Downeast Lakes Land Trust at (207) 796 – 2100 or email

We stayed up last evening to watch the presidential debate. Have a great week!
