Red Ribbon Week 2016

By Amy Jeanroy

Red ribbon week at the Calais Elementary School is a week of anti-drug messages and events, and the students embraced the kick off with an assembly and parade.

Mayor Marianne Moore and City Manager Jim Porter presented a resolution signed by the City Council, kicking off the school's efforts.

The Red Ribbon Celebration serves as a catalyst for communities across the country to participate in drug prevention activities. Started in 1988, the campaign has delivered its message of hope for a drug-free future, to millions of children and their communities.

After the assembly, the entire school, led by CPD and followed by the Calais EMS, marched around the block carrying banners and proudly wearing red ribbons, clothing and even sporting bright red hair, to show their commitment to a drug-free lifestyle.
