For many kids high school is a rough time to get through. For many students it helps that they have an activity to make it a little bit better. Volleyball has been that one activity for some Calais High School graduates and now a group of them want to honor and share that passion.

This November a group of Calais High School Alumni will get together to play in the First Annual Alumni Volleyball Game. All the women playing in the game were past players on the Calais High School volleyball team and so far it spans from 1991 to 2016 with more joining.

“We decided to start holding an alumni game for a sport that is starting to grow across the state so we want to shine a light on it. Volleyball has grown in school but the fan base is growing too,” co-founder and J.V. Varsity Volleyball Coach Kati Grass said.

The event will take place on November 26 in the Calais Middle/High School Gymnasium at 4pm. There will be a $5 entrance fee for the game with all proceeds going to creating The Calais high School Alumni Volleyball Scholarship. This scholarship will be awarded to a graduating Calais High School senior who has played volleyball, while maintaining good academic standing and strong leadership skills.
