Winter Coats to be Given Away at Thrift Store

By Lura Jackson

The changing leaves are flashy heralds of cold nights, and those in the area know we’ve already had a few visits from frost. If you or someone that you know is in need of warm winter coats, hats, gloves, or other accessories, you are welcomed to stop by the Community Thrift Store annex on Wednesday, October 29th from 9 am to noon. It is not necessary to be a client of the food pantry to take any of the items, all of which are in good usable condition.

“Coats have come from many people in the community,” Father David Sivret said. The Community Thrift Store is one of the programs of the Irene Chadbourne Ecumenical Food Pantry, which organized coat giveaways in past years.

Those who are unable to make it to the coat giveaway on Wednesday are encouraged to come by the thrift store when convenient as there are many fine, warm coats for a reasonable cost. All proceeds from sales at the thrift store support the food pantry and its efforts.
