Cub Scouts Pack 132 in Claais will hold a food drive 9 - 11 am, Saturday, November 5th. They will collect from door to door with neighborhoods of Barker, Swan, Downes, Lafayette, Germain and Calais Avenue.

Sorry to hear of the passing of Ramona Smith, wife of Tom Smith for 46 years. Tom pastored Bethel Chapel in Talmadge.

Congratulations to Harold Scholl who has been a member of Calais Legion Post #3 for 72 years as well as being the oldest member of that post.

I was reading the article on the St. Stephen old town hall, how to utilize it. I think you haven enough offices and empty spaces in your area as we do. Agree with Marg Harding not to use tax papers money to restore it.

An elaborate tea room opened from noon to 3 or 4 o’clock, ladies love to dress up, wear their hats and chit-chat a few hours with friends or family.

Reminder of the annual Veterans Day assembly on Thursday, November 10th at 9:15 am in the Calais High School cafeteria being hosted by the Advanced Placement English Class from CHS. It is a wonderful cause to remember our veterans.

Wednesday, November 2nd is the 50th anniversary of Theodore Roosevelt Inaugural National Historic Site. 

Election Day on November 8th.

Covered Bridge Craft Sale at St. Stephen Legion 9 - 1 (US) in Upper Mills United Church.  Guests are The Valley Gospel Singers, The Leemans, Generation Gap and Ronnie Hall and friends. A lunch will follow.

McDonalds held a Halloween party on Thursday evening. Several of the kiddies came dressed up. They iced cookies, had their faces painted and given a Halloween bucket with treats, Dad and Mom’s came along and had their supper. Very exciting for awhile.

Linda Scott Hayward happy belated birthday. Hope your day was perfect.

The Hospital Auxiliary held Donation Day on Thursday. Lots of goodies were dropped off as well as money. There was a  50/50 raffle and a chance to win a pie. Thanks to all who helped make it successful.

Our delightful yearly Soup and Poetry Night is on Friday, November 4th from 6 - 8 pm at the Calais Library. Poets and poetry lovers are encouraged to share poems or simply listen and enjoy.

St. Anne’s ECW will meet on November 8th, Tuesday at 5:30. Pot luck and discussion on our Cookie Fair in December.

Mark your calendar for the Shoe Box Packing Party on November 12th at 2 pm at Baring Baptist Church. There will be music, cookies and hot cocoa.

I rode to Eastport on Saturday. I saw 31 deer, busy down there. The tides were very high this past week.

Art Carter spoke on Faith at St. Anne’s Sunday morning service.

November 10 there will be a Fuel Fund Soup lunch at noon at St. Anne’s Parish Hall.

Sympathy goes to Fr. David Sivret and family on the loss of his brother Tim.

An exceptional Singspiration was held at Second Baptist Church Sunday evening. Baring Baptist Church was invited. Several people sang solos and in a group. Pastor Matt sang a song he created from his poetry he writes, Bravo! We have great talent in the area. Great to see them participate.
