Calais High School

Dylan Carrier

My name is Dylan Carrier and I am the new Calais Middle-High School correspondent. I would like to congratulate the Calais High School Volleyball team who just won the class B state championship. In the regular season they went 13-1, with thirteen wins one loss, and were first place in class B. They won the DAC championship game on Wednesday October 19. They won the quarter finals against Machias on Saturday the 22 , then the semifinals against Woodland. The Blue Devils became the State Champions on October 29 against Washington Academy.  Four team members were named DAC all-stars: Kylie Donovan, Kelly Delaney, Kayli Doten, and Abby Condon.

In recent weeks the school has been teeming with activity. The Student Council has elected their Executive officers; Jack Lander as President, Halen Harris as Vice President, and Dylan Carrier as Secretary and Treasurer. The school also participated in a state wide mock election. Our results were Donald Trump with 36% of the votes, Hillary Clinton with 33%, and Bernie Sanders with 27% of the votes. The Honors and Advanced Placement English classes went on a field trip to see The Tempest by William Shakespeare in Machias on Monday, Oct. 24. The high school JMG also had a costume contest the winners were Kyle Sansoucie as The Joker; Stephanie Look and Cassidy Johnson as a pair of strawberries; and Brynne Lander as Donald Trump. The sophomore class had the most participation, so they get an ice cream sundae party.

The school would also like to congratulate Angie Foggia on her retirement after thirty-seven years at CHS.  She was presented with a plaque and bouquet of flowers, as well as a round of applause from the entire school. Thank you, Angie, for all the meals and your years of dedication to CMS/CHS.
