CDRC’s Scarecrow Fest Winners are Announced

Calais Downtown Revitalization Coalition (CDRC) announces the winners of the popular Create a Scarecrow contest, Casket Race, and Cadaver Toss.

Coming in first place for the Scarecrow competition is United States Post Office which received $200 in gift certificates to downtown businesses. Second place winner is Artemis’s Attic receiving $100 in gift certificates, and third place is Mercier’s Hair Salon receiving $50 in gift certificates. All winners also received a large pizza from Jo’s Diner and Pizzeria. More than 20 businesses, non-profits, and individuals participated in this friendly competition and it made visiting downtown Calais lots of fun.

The grand winner of the Casket Race is Washington County Community College (WCCC)’s Senate. The group took home a whopping $500 in prize money for first place. Second place is Downeast Defenders which received $250 in prize money, and most creative casket winner is WalMart employee group which received $100.

The Cadaver Toss brought out participants of all ages. Everyone enjoyed seeing how far they could throw a “cadaver”.
