Cub Scouts Provide Community Service

Members of The Calais Cub Scout Pack 132 participated in an Operation Christmas Child Shoebox Filling Party.  Members of the pack helped fill shoeboxes with toys and accessories for underprivileged children all over the world.

The event was held at the Church of the Living Stone in Baileyville on Saturday, October 14.  "I love helping fill shoeboxes. I like knowing other kids will have a Christmas" said Cub Scout, Jonathan Tinker.

Operation Christmas Child is a program sponsored by Samaritan’s Purse.   Samaritan’s Purse is a nondenominational evangelical Christian organization providing spiritual and physical aid to hurting people around the world.

Pack 132 will have their next community service event a food drive on Saturday, November 5 from 9:00 a.m. – 11:00 a.m. They will be collecting food donations door-to-door in the neighborhoods of Barker, Swan, Downes, Lafayette and Germain Streets and Calais Avenue.  The food collected will be donated to the Irene Chadbourne Ecumenical Food Pantry in Calais.

If you are interested in making a donation to the food drive and do not live in the planned collection area, please contact a member of Pack 132 or search Cub Scout- Pack 132 on Facebook and send a message.
