Cassie and Maggie MacDonald encompass everything you could ask for in a musical act, their talent is only surpassed by the joy with which they so generously share it. Exciting and innovative, they have found the perfect balance between musical integrity, and sheer entertainment. While staying true to their Celtic Roots, they have explored and tested the boundaries of traditional music, bringing a breath of fresh air to the genre with their original compositions and arrangements. Sisters, cohorts and collaborators, Cassie and Maggie have been enchanting audiences far and wide with their infectious energy, driving rhythms and lilting melodies.

Born in Halifax, with strong roots in Antigonish, N.S. The girls have been wowing audiences across Canada, the U.S., France, Germany, Austria, Bermuda and the UK. The girls are fresh back from an extensive tour of Europe and are starting their New England Tour, promoting their, NEW ALBUM, “The Willow Collection”, with their first stop in Calais, Maine at the new Catholic Church. Looking forward to the acoustics in this building!

Cassie's fiddle playing has been described as sweet and elegant with just the right amount of raw power while Maggie's piano playing has an irresistible drive that will leave your foot incapable of staying still and compliments Cassie's playing perfectly. Together these two sisters bring more than your average fiddle piano duo; Cassie is an award winning highland and step dancer and also sings harmony for Maggie. In addition to her virtuosic piano playing, Maggie also sings lead, plays guitar and is also an accomplished step dancer. Their music fits together seamlessly, encompassing various styles from Cape Breton reels to Antigonish Polkas, Quebecois fiddling and foot work to down east standards. Their vocal harmonies are sweet yet powerful and their step dancing exact and exciting, showing off their youthful charm and energy.

They are rising stars in the Celtic music scene and the community has taken note with their winning the Galaxies Radio Rising Star award. Also, they have received nominated in the Canadian Folk Music Awards, for “Young Performers of the Year”, East Coast Music Award nominees for Traditional Album and Double Music Nova Scotia Award nominees for New Artist and Roots Album of the Year. This year will prove to be the busiest and most exciting yet with the release of “Sterling Road”, their second studio album, a European tour, and appearances at numerous festivals and concerts throughout North America.
