Local Youth Wins State Title

Twelve year old Cassidy Carr is this year’s USA National Miss Pine Tree State Jr. Teen.  This title gives Cassidy the opportunity to travel across the state promoting Crown C.A.R.E.S (Creating A Respectful Environment in Schools) platform and Unite Against Bullying ME project. These projects offer awareness on bullying prevention, the state laws and solutions for kids, parents, teachers, and the community.

Cassidy’s passion is her community service work.  She diligently works to promote the Crown CARES platform and the Unite Against Bullying ME project.  Cassidy has also helped her community by participating in events such as the Relay for Life, Walk to end Alzheimer’s, volunteers for the Special Olympics, and the community Thanksgiving event. This past year Cassidy has created her own organization called the Perfect Pillow Project. Cassidy collects new pillows and blankets to donate to those in need with the thought that those facing a difficult time or great tragedy needs and deserves a soft place to rest their head at night. To date the Perfect Pillow Project has been able to donate new pillows and blankets to the Next Step domestic violence project and to the American Red Cross Pine Tree Chapter.

This past August Cassidy was awarded the President’s Volunteer Gold Service Award presented by the Corporation for National and Community Service in recognition and appreciation for her commitment to strengthen our nation and communities through volunteer service. Cassidy will be traveling to Florida this year to compete for the title of USA National Miss Jr. Teen.

Those local businesses that sponsored Cassidy helped raise money for the Unite Against Bullying ME. Project and helped many schools receive resources on bullying prevention.  A big Thank You to: Clark’s Manufacturing, Calais Dunkin Donuts, Stanhope’s Trucking, Cabin Fever Embroidery, Grampie Bill’s Place, Riverside Electric, Obrien’s Auto Care, NAPA Auto Supply, Calais Motor Inn, Sherrard Agency, Calais ACE Hardware, Flowers By Janie, and Border Electric.
