Alexander School

Cassie Oakes

AES has a food visitor come to the school every third Thursday of the month.  Her name is Ms. Sara.  The past week she introduced cranberries to the students at AES and she read Cranberry Thanksgiving to the classes.  The students tried the cranberries and found them very tart!  They got to see what they looked like inside and got a better understanding of why they float when the bogs are flooded.  The students in 2 and 3 learned that there are several bogs in our area.  The students also got to try craisins, which is a dried cranberry.  The students love learning about and trying new foods.

The 8th grade class will be selling RADA cutlery, until Friday, December 9th.  It will be delivered before the holiday’s, so think holiday shopping.  AES has RADA books available at the office if you know of anyone who would like to make a purchase.  This fund raiser will help towards the end of the year 8th grade class trip.

There is going to be no school Thursday and Friday in observation of Thanksgiving.

Don’t forget about adult volleyball, which is held on Tuesdays at the AES gym from 7:00 p.m. to 9:00 p.m.  All adults welcome.

The Alexander School still has organic garlic for sale and they are $3.00 per 3-ounce bag.  You can purchase directly from the school during school hours, but if that is not convenient for you give them a call and other arrangements can be made at 454-2623.

It is that time of year again it is getting chilly and the wind always seems to blow on the hill at AES and all students should come to school prepared to go outside for recess.  That would include warmer outerwear, hats, mittens or gloves.  Also, appropriate foot wear for the playground is a good idea.  If your child wears boots to school, please be sure to send in a pair of sneakers to change into for gym class and to perhaps wear through out the day during school.
