Calais Celtic Concerts Final Show of the year to Feature Cape Breton's Coig's Christmas Show!

Calais Celtic Concert's will present Cape Breton's super group Coig, at the Calais High School in Calais, Maine on Sunday, December 4th at 6:00 pm U.S./7:00 pm Canadian time. The doors will open one hour before the show.

Coig, one of Atlantic Canada's premier traditional groups, is an ensemble of East Coast musicians originally forming to promote the Celtic Colours International Festival. In one explosive coming together, what was once solo acts on state, has amalgamated into one electrifying super group, picked as Penguin Eggs magazine's 2014 #1 New Discovery internationally. With fiery Celtic style as its musical core, Coig easily shifts between century old tunes of past generations to original and contemporary compositions, featuring the band's range of over a dozen instruments (vocals, fiddles, piano, guitar, banjo, mandolin, viola, bouzouki, whistles and more). With driving tunes, haunting songs. and infectious energy, Coig is anĀ  unparalleled musical force.

With a combined total of over 30 nominations and awards, each Coig's talented musicians have released their own successful solo albums and have toured at home and abroad before coming together at this exciting super group. Coig's much anticipated debut album was released on June 10th, 2014. That album won Traditional/Roots Recording of the Year at Nova Scotia Music Week; the Canadian Folk Award; and the East Coast Music Award for the same category in 2015.

Their Christmas album "Carols" puts a new spin on some very traditional tubes and songs. Featured are: The Wexford Carol; In the Bleak Midwinter; Jesu, Joy of Man's Desiring' Oh, Holy Night; Have Yourself a Merry Little Christmas and Swingle Bells.

The Calais High School is located at 34 Blue Devil Hill, Calais, ME. tickets are $20.00 adult, $5.00 for 15 years and under. Pre-show tickets can be bought at Karen's Diner and Korner Pub, downtown Calais.
