EAC Receives Grant from Onion Foundation

The Eastport Arts Center (EAC) is excited to announce its receipt of an $8,000 award from the Onion Foundation for general operating support. This funding will be used to continue EAC's efforts to present diverse programming with wide appeal, collaborate with local educators to increase arts experiences for the area’s youth and their families, and to increase its outreach efforts. The center’s mission is ‘to stimulate and nurture an appreciation of the visual and performing arts and the creative process, and to provide a home and an environment within the community where they can prosper.’ The grant will help EAC ensure that the Eastport community remains empowered to contribute to the region's cultural and intellectual life, where creative agents of all media, ages, and abilities can learn from one another, perform, and produce. The center strives to keep its programming affordable for a broad community by offering free admission to events for attendees 17 and under, and providing most workshops by sliding-scale or donation. Many free programs are offered as well.
