Keep your calendars open for the Christmas Concert happening on Tuesday, December 20th at 6:00 p.m.

The 4-year-olds will be receiving stickers if they return their lunch forms filled out.

Don’t forget about adult volleyball which is held on Tuesday nights at the AES gym from 7:00 p.m. to 9:00 p.m.  All adults are welcome.  It is a great and fun time!

The Alexander School still has organic garlic for sale.  It is $3.00 for 3 ounces.

Breakfast is served at 8:00 a.m.  At 8:15 a.m. students are dismissed to their classrooms.  If a student plans to eat school breakfast, please make sure they are at AES by 8:00 a.m. to ensure they have time to finish their meal.  Students must sign up for hot breakfast on the previous day (to ensure minimum waste).  If they sign up and are present for the day, they must take the meal.  Cold cereal available does not need to signed up for.

As a reminder, please don’t forget the weather is colder and your children need to come to school prepared to go outside with winter clothing.

For any student that used to attend AES, the Alumni Basketball Game will be Monday, December 26th, starting with the girls’ game at 11:00 a.m.  All funds raised for this event go to the Alexander/Crawford Scholarship Fund.

The AES Library was open for business on Tuesday the 6th.  Several of the students from grades 4-8 stopped in to check books in and out.  Some chose to study for a test in the library while others opted for the classroom.  Those not studying decided to play a game of “Dots and Boxes” while others worked on odds and ends of leftover Christmas projects.  In the afternoon the kids from grades 2 and 3 stopped to get new books.  While in the library, they heard librarian Rhonda Oakes recite the poem “The Night before Christmas” written by Clement Clark Moore and illustrated by Jan Brett.  While in the Library they made Christmas fortune tellers and worked on decoding a puzzle.  Wednesday was an early release Day at AES so there was no library for pre-k, kindergarten and 1st graders.  On Thursday, grades 4-8 popped into the library for renewing and signing out new titles.  They caught up on their school work stayed and played games of “Dots and Squares” while others chose to do a decoder puzzle word search.  Also during library time on Thursday Eli Sanford stopped into their class and showed students how to play the chimes.  Those that opted to take part in the activity learned a Christmas song in hopes to play it during the Christmas Concert on December 20th.
