Not much to report this week but I know everyone is busy completing last minute shopping and cooking for the holidays.  Merry Christmas to you all!  I hope everyone has a wonderful holiday season with family and friends and a Happy New Year!

The next Select Board meetings are scheduled for Saturday, January 7th and January 23rd from 9:00 am to 10:00 am.  The next Cooper Planning Board meeting will be held on Saturday, January 7th at 10:00 am.  For all of you noting a time change to the meetings, the time of the meetings is being changed due to the winter weather and difficulty getting out early to get to meetings with snow conditions.  The hours will fall back an hour again once the increment weather of winter has passed.  Town office hours of operation for the month of January are scheduled as usual on the first and third Thursday, January 5th and January 19th from 4:30-6:30 pm.

I want to remind everyone that it is time to stop by the office and register your dogs.  If the rabies vaccination is current the registration is quick and easy.  If the rabies vaccination has expired, I will need proof of the new rabies vaccination.  All dogs must be registered by January 31, 2016 to avoid late fees.

Real Estate Tax payments were due on December 1, 2016 so please get your 2016 taxes in to avoid interest costs.  If you have a tractor your tractor excise will be due with your property tax bills by December 1, 2016.  The Select Board has resolved the question regarding excise taxes for tractors.  Tractor excise will be $50.00 for tractors that are 1-5 years old; $25.00 for tractors that are 5-10 years old; and $15.00 for tractors that are over 10 years old.  You can mail the excise for your tractor in with your real estate tax payment or pay during regular office hours or by sending to Laurie Pike, Tax Collector at 152 N. Union Road, Cooper, Maine, 04694.  The beginning of this week I sent out foreclosure notices for the 2014 leans notifying residents with a 2014 lien to pay prior to January 27th to avoid loss of property.
