Here are the announcements from January 27th.

Both boys’ and girls’ basketball practice has begun. Check your Friday announcements for days and times.

Just a reminder that sports physicals need to be turned in to the office for your student to be eligible to play in the games.

The basketball schedule will be sent out as soon as it is finalized. (I will share it here and it will be posted on the AES Web site and on Randy’s Variety Facebook Page.

As basketball season begins, so does cheering.  Anyone in grades pre-k-2nd grade who would like to take part please sign and send in a permission slip.  AES also needs to have a current physical on file for all cheerleaders

8th grade meetings have begun. Be sure to check with your student as to when these are taking place.  The most recent was held on January 31st.

Winter sports pictures will be taken on Thursday, February 9th, 2017 beginning at 8:30 a.m.  Forms went home Friday.  If you haven’t received one, please contact AES during school hours to make sure you have one for your student.

Home grown Panther Breath garlic is still for sale at only $3 a bag.  Please see Brenda in the office during school hours if you are interested in purchasing some.  The garlic is home grown on the AES grounds by the students.

The 100th day of school is fast approaching. Keep your eyes open for pictures and details of what pre-k through 3rd grade do for the day!

Also, Valentine’s Day is not far away, watch for your class list or call your teacher and see what you can do to help out.

A list of things that AES is looking for besides the Box Tops for Education and old cell phones, can tabs, and empty ink cartridges would be empty shoe boxes for up coming projects.

Due to the snow/ice day on Tuesday, January 24th there was no school, thus no library.  On Wednesday, everything and everybody were back, up and running.  Mrs. McCutcheon’s Pre-K came to the library in the morning to get new books for the week and Mrs. Pollock’s kindergarten and 1st graders came in the afternoon.  While in the library they heard the story “SNOW DAY” by Patricia Lakin.  They also worked on designing winter outwear for the bulletin board.  The song of the day was “If You Are Happy and You Know It.” On Thursday grades 4-8 came to the library to return, renew and sign out new titles.  Most students either looked for books or took advantage of the study hall. A few students worked on a winter word search.  Thursday afternoon, Mrs. Hill’s 2nd and 3rd graders came in to make up Tuesday’s lost Library time.  The 3rd graders were assigned a new Book report, this time with the topic of fairy tales.  While in the library they read the new Dr. Seuss book “Come Over to My House” and began work on designing their dream home that will be displayed on a bulletin board next week when the finished products are delivered back to the library.
