Calais Celtic Concert Series Opens It's 6th Season!

Cape Breton Artists, Scott Macmillan And Colin Grant, On Their New CD Release Tour, Good2go

Calais Celtic Concerts will open its 6th season with Cape Breton Artists Scott Macmillan, Conductor, Composer and Master guitar player, and award winning fiddler, Colin Grant, of Sprag Session, The Colin Grant Band, and former member of the hugely popular trad group, Coig, at the Knights of Columbus Hall, 2 Park St., in Calais on Saturday February 11 at 7:00 p.m US.

Calais Celtic Concerts has become internationally known for its high level of professional Celtic Musicians that it hosts from Europe and North America. Last year saw yet another great year bringing top level entertainment from Ireland, Scotland, Wales, The Isle of Man, Canada and the U.S. This year we're starting off strong again hosting Scott Macmillan and Colin Grant in February and two of our biggest shows yet coming in March, with Lennie Gallant of PEI and The Irish Descendents from Newfoundland!

Award winning composers and multi-instrumentalists Scott Macmillan and Colin Grant started playing together around Cape Breton in 2015. Later that year they were featured performers at Celtic Connections in Glasgow, Scotland. They were well received and started composing new tunes of which they spun into classical, jazz, funk, rock and blues. While the resulting album, “Good2Go”, follows a traditional music path of tunes combined into medleys, the musical interplay between the two musicians speaks to the experience, chops, and element of good-old belly rubbing humor that keeps the tunes on a fun, lively path.

On July 15, 2016 they released their debut duo album, “Good2Go.” It was recorded at FMP Matrix in Dartmouth, N.S. by Scott Macmillan. Jennyfer Brickenden is executive producer. The recording features 15 tracks of acoustic instrumental medleys, including a number of Macmillan's and Grant's original compositions arranged with traditional and contemporary tunes from Cape Breton, Scotland, Ireland and beyond.

The Knights of Columbus Hall is located at 2 Park St., Calais. Tickets are just $15.00 adult, $5.00 for 15 years and under. Showtime is at 7:00 p.m. US. Pre-show tickets can be bought at Karen's Diner and Korner Pub, downtown Calais.
