Mike McPherson Award presented to Randy McCormick

The Michael McPherson Award was started in February of 2000. It is a tribute presented in memory of Michael McPherson for his years of dedicated love and service to God, Family, Youth, and Community. This tribute is presented to an outstanding volunteer at the Calais Recreation Department for time and dedication given to our community’s youth. A plaque with all the past award winners hangs in the Calais Recreation Center.

The 2017 Michael Award was presented to Randy McCormick for his many years of service to the youth of Calais and the surrounding areas. Randy has served as wrestling coach for the Downeast Wrestling Club and was the Calais High School varsity wrestling coach. He is a member of the St. Croix Recreation Association where he headed up the pool project last year. Without his dedication and hard work the Calais pool would not have opened last summer. Randy also headed up the new pavilion located at Thomas DiCenzo Complex and was the driving force behind the huge cleanup weekend at the DiCenzo Complex. Thank you, Randy, for your dedication to the youth of our community and to Calais Recreation Department. (Rec Photo)
