Calais Elementary School Read-a-thon

The 2017 Calais Elementary School (CES) Read-a-thon activities concluded today with a character parade, recognition of participants and announcement of top readers and top fundraisers!

The read-a-thon is sponsored by the CES PTO and is the organization’s largest fundraiser. $3,200 was raised and 63 students participated.  The PTO raises money to provide extra-curricular activities such as assemblies and plays and help with classroom and school supplies.

 Pratt Chevrolet, Buick, GMC; Calais Regional Hospital; McDonalds of Calais; Calais Family Eye Care; Subway and The First were generous sponsors again this year and provided prizes for the top readers.  All students who participated were awarded a certificate of participation and $5 cash prize.  Top readers and top fundraisers in each class were awarded McDonald’s Gift Certificate and a movie pass to State Twin Cinemas. Cash prizes were awarded to the top readers and fundraisers of the school. 

 The top reader is the student who read the most minutes and the top fundraiser is the student who raised the most money.  Top readers and fundraisers by class:  Mrs. Cole: Reese Ellsmore and Brooke Corbett.
