“What’s In Jim’s Ditty Bag?”

What’s in Jim’s Ditty Bag? You’ll find out at the Pembroke Library on Wednesday, April 19th, when U.S. Coast Guard veteran Jim Sherman loosens the drawstring, revealing songs and stories of the sea, the shore, and “elsewhere.” There are likely to be old chanteys, a few ballads, a comical ditty or two, and a salty story, as well as a guitar, a 12-string, and a mountain dulcimer — which Jim has actually played at sea, under sail. A long-time resident of Machiasport, well known Downeast for his work at historic sites and country fairs, and with the chantey group “From Away Downeast,” Jim brings joyful enthusiasm and a crusty voice to his performances.

The concert starts at 7:00 p.m. Free. The Pembroke Library, with full handicap accessibility, is located at 221 Old County Road, south of U.S. 1, across from the Pembroke fairgrounds and horse track. FMI 207-726-4745 or email folknoter@maineline.net.
