The Calais Country Club and the Barren View Golf course played their annual Washington County Championship. Players from each club played at Calais and the finished on Sunday in Jonesboro. This year the trophy went back to Calais as John Marchese shot a fine 73 in Calais and 72 at Jonesboro. Full results will be in newspaper next week.

As most of you know, with the first of June upon us, most of our leagues get started and we usually have a tourney or two on the schedule this time of year. I'd like to thank everyone who participated in the Spring Club Fundraising Scramble. It was a very successful tourney with a full field, raising much-needed funds to get things started up for the season. Congrats go out to the winning team of Mark and Brian Altvater, John Rogers and Keith Moore who carded a great -12 under par round in blustery conditions.

For those of you who didn't make it out to the event, there seems to be positive feedback from the winners regarding the new prize card system for tourney winnings. Instead of the traditional gift certificate, as a winner, you will receive a prize card with set amount pre-programed on the card to be used exclusively at the St. Croix C.C. for anything we sell, with the exception of memberships. While implementing this new system, the club is allowing all who have pro shop credits from last years' winnings, the entire summer to cash those in. This will be the last season for prize carry-overs from season to season. All winnings from tourneys moving forward are to be redeemed by December 31st of the year the prize card was issued. This will help with book keeping and inventory control.

As far as tournaments go, one of the biggest changes on the schedule this year is the Blanchfield Husband and Wife / Mixed Couples’ tourney being earlier and coming right up on June 10th and 11th. This is the 58th playing of this annual club tourney, otherwise known as "the divorce classic" with a few spots still available for the 10 am shotgun.  Finally, don't forget to get your team signed up for the popular Gordie Mitchell 3-Person Scramble scheduled for Sat. June 24th.

Divots Bar and Grill is now open daily from 11am to 7pm Sunday through Thursday, and 11am to 11pm Friday and Saturday. We're very excited about a few changes in the restaurant, including fresh dough pizza and breadsticks, and other homemade items on the new and improved menu this season. Keep an eye out for homemade lunch specials running throughout the year. The hard working Divots staff is ready and eager to serve the membership and guests here at the Croix!

As usual, thanks for your continued support of the St. Croix C.C.. Mike.
