Happenings at Greenland Point Center

Look what I ran into on my way to Greenland Point Center! He was just a young fella but really in  hurry. I think he has heard that Wet-N-Wild starts June 25th and he doesn’t want to be late! It’s time to get those applications in, to reserve your spot.

Our campus on Long Lake is a flurry of activity again this week.  Our new Program Director has moved in as well as most councilors.  All are insuring our facilities and grounds are at their best for this years guests. From cutting trees, raking leaves, scrubbing, repairing, mowing, planting, painting, recruiting, dusting to hanging curtains there is never a shortage of things to do.

This year we welcome Haleigh White as Program Director and Vanessa Bean as Assistant Director. Both these strong young women come with incredible outdoor backgrounds and both are GPC Alums.  They certainly care for their environment while knowing what the camping experience should be. We expect some wonderful reports from this years campers.

Representatives from Maine Inland Fisheries and Wildlife will be on site this week to begin their annual training of our staff.  There are many topics to cover in order for us to both teach your children and to keep them safe. We work in conjunction with IF&W for many of our programs and are most appreciative to have them share their expertise.

We will be hosting our first Outdoor School with children from Rose M. Gaffney school in Machias on Tuesday. Our staff is excited to see them and looking forward to a day of hands-on learning and fun!

As mentioned in previous weeks, both Equestrian Camp and Wet-N-Wild start 6/25. If your child is interested in either of these programs please plan to register them soon. Partial scholarships are available.

You may see us out and about in fundraising efforts this summer.  We ask you to consider helping us in these campaigns. It is only through constant fundraising we are able to provide the types of scholarships available for our children. The reality is, we want every child who desires, to be able to come to Greenland Point Center, whether or not their families can afford to send them. This has been our goal for many years,  with your help, for many more to come. Donations can be sent at any time to GPC, P.O. Box 333, Princeton, ME. 04668

Also a reminder that our cash calendar is available for the month of July. It holds a special drawing for July 4th of $200.00! Wow, that is one big prize! You can’t win if you don’t play.
