2017 Eastport Pirate Festival Announced

Ahoy Mates! The Eastport Pirate Festival committee has announced that the easternmost city in the USA will once again host the largest Pirate Festival in Northern New England and Atlantic Canada.  Starting the Friday after Labor Day and continuing through Sunday, your favorite pirate characters will once again descend on Eastport for a weekend of swashbuckling fun.

As always, the festival sponsored events are free to the public.  Returning performers include “2F Pirates,” Felicity and Fenris, who will provide combat training with foam cutlasses, provide educational and informative talks on the era of piracy, and entertain and amuse the crowd with petty acts of larceny.  The Northeast Buccaneers lend an air of authenticity with a variety of props and set pieces, nautical characters and historical context. Rockin’ Ron, the Friendly Pirate, will also be on hand to entertain the kids with his guitar and music.  Also returning are Ravenbane’s Firecraft to wow the crowd with close-quarters pyrotechnic displays and whip demonstrations.

The downtown businesses will be decked out in full pirate regalia, so put on your best pirate fashions and join in the fun.  The shops and galleries will be stocked with treasures for sale, and the local restaurants and taverns will be serving up the best in food and drink.  Street vendors will be plying their wares and selling all you foodie favorites.  Musical acts including a steel drum band and bagpipers will perform throughout the downtown area.

The Pirate Festival committee is seeking volunteers to help with all of the events, kid’s games, races and contests.  Interested parties my contact the committee at eastportpiratefestival@gmail.com or by calling Chris Brown or Don Dunbar.a
