Street Fair Offers Something for Everyone

The 44th annual International Homecoming Festival, organized in part by the St. Croix Valley Chamber of Commerce and City of Calais, will be held August 9th through the 13th. The International Homecoming Festival is a celebration between two communities, St. Stephen, New Brunswick, and our very own Calais, Maine. Residents and visitors alike will enjoy a craft fair, fireworks, concerts, sporting tournaments, class reunions and much more. Not only will all of these events be taking place throughout the four days, but there will also be multiple food vendors with lobster rolls, funnel cakes and other goods. All of the festivities will be put on by local businesses, as well as volunteers.

One of the main events that will take place is a street fair, which will be held on August 12th from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. “The International Street fair is fully booked. We have 60 booths,” said Helen Messemer-Thomas of the St. Croix Valley Chamber of Commerce. There should be no problem finding something for everyone. The fair allows vendors and businesses, old and new, to get their name and products out in the open. Sand Dollar Embroidery, Raw Customs Mobile Install, and Dream Green Designs will all make their debut at the fair as new, growing businesses. Businesses that we already know and love like Artemis’s Attic will also contribute by participating in the fair.

Booths that will be featured at the festival this year include ATV and snowmobile clubs, wood carvings, beadwork, furniture and more. 50/50 raffles will also be taking place for Patriot tickets, and there will be a dunking station, gun raffles, boy scout recycling and auctions.

There will be plenty to do, whether you like arts and crafts, quilting, jewelry, custom auto installs, grab bags, or canoe accessories.
