Town News

It was a dismal turnout for the vote on the school budget on August 2nd with only 12 town residents attending. Last Wednesday, there was a validation vote on the approved and only 15 votes were cast. Where is everybody?? Just because the school is closed doesn’t mean we don’t need a budget. The town students attend classes in Calais and Perry and they charge tuition. They also have to be bused.

There will be no service at the Sewall Memorial Congregational Church for the next two weeks. Next Sunday there is an organ concert at the Perry Church, and the following week there is a county wide picnic at the Methodist Camp Ground in Jacksonville. Bring your favorite dish to share.

In a previous column, I mentioned a re-dedication of the Grace Chapel. I said it was on the 27th but it is on the 26th from 4:00 p.m. to 6:30 p.m. This will be an ecumenical service. A community picnic will be at 5:00 p.m. with hot dogs provided. Bring your favorite side dish. The Grace Chapel is 135 years old this year. Come and learn all about the chapel on the 26th.
