Letter to the Editor

Although it’s almost time to close the book on summer, long shall remain the pleasant memories of the trip my husband and I made to Dennysville and Pembroke to explore my Dudley family roots. Much was accomplished during our three-day stay and I’d like to publicly thank the following individuals for their kindness and generosity.

First, I am particularly indebted to Colin Windhorst who made the resources of the Lincoln Library available and who posted my search for Dudley family members on the Dennys River Historical Society page. Second, Ann Carter, a volunteer librarian in Dennysville helped coordinate our visit and has been most helpful since our return. Lastly, many thanks to Susan Sanfilippo, Curator of the Pembroke Historical Society, and her husband Stephen who opened the Society’s door to us and who shared priceless family information along with pleasant conversation.

Whether you are delving into your family’s history like me, looking to take in an exhibit, searching for a meaningful volunteer opportunity, or hunting for a novel to cozy up with, I heartily recommend you look no further than the wonderful resources of your local library and historical society. You’ll meet some really great folks in the process.
