AES is back in session and the kids and staff are excited about the new year!  If you need to contact the school the number is 454-2623. Mrs. McDonough is in the front office and is ready to answer all your questions and to take messages.

Here is just a reminder for parents and volunteers: please park in the parking lot.  The front of the school should not be blocked. It is a bus and emergency lane.  If you are visiting the school please check in with Mrs. McDonough in the office.  This year all visitors must sign in and pick up a visitor tag.

Please make sure you fill out all the paperwork that was sent home the first day of school and bring it back promptly.

Also, please be patient with the bus schedules as AES works out the kinks of the first week of school. Hopefully everything will be running like clockwork again soon.

Mr. Flood is looking for donations of used and/or new golf clubs and golf balls to be used during the upper grades gym classes.  If you have any golf equipment to donate please contact Mr. Flood at the school during school hours.

The school is looking for volunteer coaches for the upcoming school year for soccer, softball, gymnastics and volleyball.  Volunteers need to be fingerprinted and there is a stipend of $100 for each sport.  Call the school if you are interested.

Cross country will be starting soon. Watch for sign-up sheets and the fall schedule.  Remember students must have an up-to-date physical on file to participate in any AES sports program.

The Scholastic Book Fair is back!  You can shop for books starting September 18th.  The fair will be open daily.  If you need a special time contact AES and arrangements can be made.

The annual Craft Fair will be held on October 28 from 9:00 a.m. to 2:00 p.m.  If you are a crafter or perhaps a parent wishing to volunteer in set-up or clean-up in the kitchen please contact AES.

The school is reaching out to the community this year for folks who have a special craft or talent to share.  If you are interested in coming to school and sharing please call AES.

Second and third graders are already looking forward to a field trip.  They are planning an apple picking and will be making fresh apple cider, date and time to be set soon.

The entire student body enjoyed fresh cucumbers from Mrs. Hill’s garden for a snack on Friday.

The AES library is up and running and had its first students in last week, grades 2-8.  Reminder to 6th graders through 8th graders: read the YA sectio,n and you must return a signed permission slip to the library.
