St. Croix Wins Second Annual Event

A special county championship was inaugurated a year ago Saturday when 12 golfers each from the St. Croix Country Club and the Barren View Golf Course met in Jonesboro to play the first annual 27-hole Ryder Cup Championship consisting of 9 holes each of 2 person best ball, 2-person alternate shot, and head-to-head match play at Barren View Golf Course. After over 6 hours of competition the players from Barren View captured this first championship by a score of 15.5 to 8.5.

On Saturday the Ryder Cup was played in Calais at the St. Croix Country Club using the same 12-person format in the exciting 27-hole event. This year the Cup was won by the local St. Croix contingent as they took the title with a decisive 17-7 win. It was a fantastic day for golf, and both teams had another exceptional experience. Our players are already looking forward to next year at Barren View.
