Harrison Street Fire

Firefighters from Calais, St. Stephen, Red Beach and Baileyville responded to a brush fire off of Harrison Street in Calais on Saturday, September 2nd. The blaze, which, according to a Maine Forest Service Ranger, was started by an improperly extinguished illegal fire pit, took firefighters four hours to contain due to unusually dry conditions.
