As this is written on Labor Day, we are experiencing September-like weather with gusty winds, clouds mixed with sun and occasional blue skies and cooler than average temperatures.  Many of us have taken our boats from the water due to dangerously low lake levels.  It has been a very dry year.  We are grateful for the nice rainfall Sunday night.  Not nearly enough.  Hopefully, we will get more due to other storms heading toward us by way of the southern east coast.

Saturday was the warmest and sunniest day of the Labor Day weekend.  We enjoyed a lobster feast with neighbors on Saturday and afterwards were warmed by a campfire in the cool evening.

The smell of woodsmoke wafted through the air Saturday and Sunday evenings.  On those cool nights, Terry Reynolds and his cousin Marc Reynolds warmed their homes by woodstove, the first of the season.

Happy Birthday wishes this week to Bill Abney on September 12.  Our Scuffy celebrates her 6th birthday on the 12th as well.

Ed Arbo had a plane ride last week compliments of Ted Bloomhardt.  Ted and Carol are long-time seasonal residents.  They usually fly in their personal aircraft to and from Meddybemps from their home in Burlington, Vermont.  Ted has used Ed Arbo’s private airport throughout the years.  Although Ed is no longer able to be a pilot, good folks like Ted see to it that he can continue to enjoy his life-long love of flying.
