Healthy Acadia and Jo's Diner and Pizzeria Partner to Challenge Cancer Downeast

Dine out to support cancer services in Hancock and Washington counties. Jo's Diner and Pizzeria will be generously donating $1 from every purchase of a veggie pizza through the end of the year. These funds will support needed cancer prevention and treatment access, including Cancer Patient Navigation offered through a collaboration of Healthy Acadia and the Beth C. Wright Cancer Resource Center. Jo's Diner and Pizzeria's fundraiser is part of Healthy Acadia’s Hungry for Health 2017 campaign to Challenge Cancer Downeast. The annual "Hungry for Health" campaign is in its second year and addresses a critical community health need each year through restaurant partnerships across Washington and Hancock counties.

"I am not surprised that Jo's Diner was the first Calais restaurant to step forward in support of such a good cause. They give so much back to the community." shared Healthy Acadia's Cancer Patient Navigator Marianne Moore. "This partnership will make such a difference in enabling more cancer patients to receive the care they need."

Cancer Patient Navigation provides caring, effective support for individuals facing cancer. Healthy Acadia also offers a wide variety of cancer- and other chronic disease prevention services including nutrition education, healthy food access and obesity prevention programming, tobacco cessation resources, and skin cancer screenings. Funds from the Hungry for Health 2017 campaign will enable Healthy Acadia and Beth C. Wright Cancer Resource Center to continue and to build these services.

Jo's Diner and Pizzeria serves up two delicious veggie pizzas; the Vegetable Pizza and Sandee’s Pizza. Check out their full menu on Facebook to learn more.
