I have always looked forward to September with the changing leaves and cooler days. What happened this year? It was about 85 degrees in my yard and the colors aren’t quite as bright. I assume the lack of color is because of the drought we are experiencing. So now I look to October for cooler days and maybe just maybe more foliage. I apologize to all you sun worshipers but I really dislike the heat and running my A/C at the end of September. But since neither you or I are in charge of such things I guess we take what we get.

Just a reminder that there is a Town Meeting on Thursday, September 28. It will be held at the church at 6:00 p.m. I hope I can count more than 10 people in attendance.

There’s not much going on in this tiny plantation this week. I haven’t heard much from anyone. Maybe it’s because I have been gone several evenings. Sorry if you tried to reach me. I worked at the Second Baptist Church in Calais as we celebrated our 175th anniversary over the weekend. Can I ask if anyone has a picture of the old Ed and Bertha Chase home that was on the corner of Front and Trott Streets? I am trying to do a little history and would like to have a picture of the house. For those of you who don’t remember, it was a rambling dwelling with a wrap-around porch, a long shed attached to the kitchen and the oversized garage. The home that Ruth Johnson now lives it was one of the many out buildings on the property.

Hoping you all have a great week. Stay well.
