Maine Youth Field Day

We had a really swell turnout at the Maine Youth Field Day held by the Princeton Rod and Gun Club on September 16th. The Club had a little over 50 kids take part in this year's event with kids coming from Brookton, Maine to Saint Stephen, NB.  Our field day has grown over the last few years and hopefully will continue to grow.  Kids get a chance to learn a little bit about the outdoors and the great many things it has to offer. Kids also get to participate in ATV riding, archery, canoeing, trapping, 22 rifle shooting and something they will never forget, the Airboat rides given by the Warden Service.  For a lot of kids this is the first time that they are exposed to any of these things.

Without the help from the Maine Wardens Service, US Fish and Wildlife and our many volunteers, our great success wouldn’t be possible. Thank you to all that have helped us and continue to support the Club and our youth.

This year was a special year for us, we were able to give a lucky kid a shotgun donated to the Club. The winner of the shotgun was Shain McIver of Princeton, Maine.  We also had several other prizes like fishing poles, ATV helmets, life jackets and trapping gear. The winners of these prizes were all very excited. This is all made possible by the community supporting us and helping us continue passing on our love of our Maine heritage and the outdoors.  If you’d like to see more photos of our event you can visit us on our Facebook page.
