Soup and Poetry at the Calais Free Library

The Friends of the Calais Free Library are pleased to be able to offer again the popular Soup & Poetry evening in the lovely old library building’s Children’s Room, where the children’s shelves will be rolled aside to make room for cozy tables and chairs for the attendees.  Friday, October 27th, from 6 to 8 p.m., will be an evening that begins with enjoying various soups, breads and cookies with coffee, cider, or water on the side.  There will be room for all at the tables for four set up around the room with seasonal decorations and possibly some seasonal poetry, too.

Certainly, there will be a wide variety of poetry shared - some old classics or newly found gems, and also poetry read by the authors themselves.  It’s always a delightful evening, including interesting comments and discussions that spring from the poetry choices of the night.  All ages are very welcome!  Some of the most interesting and creative offerings in the past have been from the youngest attendees.  The Friends of the CFL will be available also to welcome any who wish to join the group in its goal of supporting the library in various ways, especially through the sale of the used books available during library hours on the bottom level of the building; but primarily they hope to see many soup & poetry lovers for this always enjoyable evening.
