On Wednesday, November 15th, there will be a talk that should be of interest to this area. Downeast Lakes Land Trust welcomes Maine IF&W’s bear biologist Randy Cross for a presentation about the black bear population of Maine. Mr. Cross will highlight ongoing studies, population health, and management techniques of black bears. The program will begin at 6:00 p.m. in the Grand Lake Stream School Building. Saturday, I was able to get out and about to the craft fairs in Woodland and Charlotte... and surprise, I won two items in the Charlotte raffle: a snowman door knob decoration and a large spool of string. These fairs are always fun places to shop for gifts.

It’s busy here at the inn getting ready for the cold weather, but I am still hanging laundry outside. We have a guest due in from Scotland on Wednesday. His family name is MacDougall and he was here many years ago. If anyone has any of that family history, he would be truly interested. Please let me know.

I have not done a Corgi update in awhile so here goes: Frodo is about 1 1/2 years old and his sister from another litter, Pheobe, is 8 months. They look so much alike that sometimes it is hard to know which dog I am petting, although Pheobe is still a bit smaller. We thought that it would be good for Frodo to have a friend, however, like most siblings they fight and then hang out together. We have learned that Corgis are very smart, very fast, and love their food.
