WCCC’s JMG Collecting Donations for PAWS Cats

Located in Calais, PAWS – which stands for Protection of Animals Wandering the Streets – is constantly working to take in unwanted cats and dogs. Numerous other activities are related to supporting members of the community seeking to care for their beloved animal companions. While PAWS is always in need of donations of food for their animal charges as a result of their good work, the cold winter months prompt an increase in need as more cats are being dropped off and those that are cared for by low-income community members become naturally hungrier.

To help offset the needs of PAWS and the many cats they care for, the students of Washington County Community College’s JMG program are coordinating a collection of wet and dry cat food at various locations around the community. This is the first time that WCCC’s JMG program has organized such an effort.

Those who wish to contribute can do so at WCCC, Bell’s IGA in Calais, Mardens, or the Calais Veterinary Clinic. Boxes are established at each location and all donations of cat food are being accepted. The PAWS drive will last until December 1st.
