For the first year, the Anah Shriners held their International Festival of Trees in Calais at the Knights of Columbus Hall. The event is a huge hit in Bangor and the first year in Calais proved to be a huge hit as well. The event was weekend long from Friday, December 1 through Sunday, December 3.

The Knights of Columbus Hall hosted nineteen trees all decorated and stocked with goodies by local businesses. The Shriners asked local businesses to participate, and because of the limited space at the Knights of Columbus Hall, they had to turn some businesses away.

The event was a huge success. It brought in money to the Shriners and brought the community together. The event had the overwhelming support of many businesses throughout town again showing how the small businesses support the community and local causes. It also gave families something new and different to do this holiday season.

The Shriners are already looking forward to next year’s event and have been working on how to make it bigger and better. If your business would like to participate you can contact the Shriners to get on the list for next year. Businesses that participated this year get first refusal for next year’s event.

Aurora was very excited to put her tickets in to try and win a tree at the International Feztival of Trees this past weekend. She carefully kissed each one for luck before putting it in the bucket. (Photo by Kaileigh Deacon)
