Annual Princeton Tree Lighting

By Natalie Boomer

The kick off to the holiday season started on December 2nd in Princeton. At approximately 6 p.m., residents of Princeton and surrounding areas gathered at Legacy Square for some Christmas fun organized by the Friends of Princeton. Now in its seventh year, the yearly tradition of lighting the tree in the center of the square brings everyone together. Children and adults began to circle around the giant tree as soon as it was lit. Smiling faces danced and sang classic Christmas carols. Pastor of the Baptist Church in Princeton, Jim Edgell, played the guitar as he and Pastor Ernest Carle of the Sunrise Christian Church led the group in songs, starting off with “Joy to the World.” It was a great start to the holiday season.
