The Woodland Lady Dragons are well mixed this season with veterans and talented underclassmen that have rebounding, quickness, good shooting and will go deep into the lineup with quality players. There are 3 veteran seniors, 4 talented juniors, and an exceptional contingent of 5 freshmen. In the season opener the Lady Dragons hosted Jonesport-Beals and powered to a 22-3 opening frame tally behind 8-from Sadie Smith, 5 by Emily Curtis, 4 from Jennie Cox and 3 from Emily Erskine. In the 2nd period Jennie Cox netted 7 as they sank 19 more points sending them midway to the lockers with a 41-12 advantage. They went on to win the contest 70-28 with 9 players scoring. The top performers had Jennie Cox with 17, Sadie Smith 14, 10 each by Shawna Monk and Emily Curtis, and Katie Erskine added 6 with Shaye Beers putting down 5.



At Hodgdon on Wednesday Woodland opened the first stanza with an 11-7 spread and played to a 20-16 lead midway. Five chipped in the scoring in the third as the Lady Dragons took charge outscoring the Lady Hawks 13-4 then played to a 42-28 victory. Pacing the offense were Jennie Cox and Shawna Monk each with 8-points. Emily Curtis netted 7 and Katie Erskine 6 in the win. 



Saturday the team made a long trek to Madawaska where they fell behind in the opening period 12-8, but readjusted in the second frame to close the half with a 21-19 lead as Emily Curtis poured in 8-points. In the third Sadie Smith paced a 15-12 advantage by scoring 6-points. The defense clicked in during the last stanza and the Lady Dragons outscored their county hosts 18-6 for a 54-37 win. Freshman Emily Curtis paced all scorers with 15 points, Shawna Monk netted 13, Sadie Smith 9, Jennie Cox 7, and Brooke Russell 6.
