On Tuesday, January 16th at 6 p.m., the Calais High School inducted students into the National Honor Society. Dylan Carrier, Haley Donovan, Kelsey LaCoote, Jayda Pellerin, Kale Sapiel, and Emma Seelye were all acknowledged with certificates into the National Honor Society.

The NHS recognizes outstanding students in the high school who have proven their excellence in multiple areas such as scholarship, service, character and leadership. The induction ceremony was held in the cafeteria for family and friends to view the students’ accomplishments. Kylie Donovan, President of the Calais High School NHS chapter, lead the ceremony, along with other speakers.

Assistant Principal, Ms. Christine Proefrock gave her remarks before the ceremony began, and guest speaker, Ms. Stephanie Griffin, CHS teacher and Academic Decathlon Adviser, gave a speech to the students and guests. Donovan performed the candle lighting ceremony and then each student lit their own candle and recited the pledge: “I pledge myself always to seek the light of truth, to hold the scholarly habits, to engage in worthy service, and lead forward in all things that shall advance the welfare of the school.”

The night ended with cake and punch to celebrate the new inductees of the National Honor Society for Calais High School.
