Class Trip Fundraising Continues for Calais 8th Grade

The eighth graders at Calais Middle High School are at it again, working hard on fundraising for their end-of-year class trip.  This time, from now through the end of March, the students are selling tickets on a prize calendar.

Just like a cash calendar, a winner is chosen each day of the month.  Instead of a cash award, however, a prize is given away on each day of the draw.  The winning ticket for the day goes back into the draw for chances to win multiple times.

The students have been successful thus far with their overall fundraising efforts, currently just over half way to their overall goal.  They have sold tickets on raffles for a Tom Brady drawing by Paul Redding and oil from VL Tammaro, among other things. As well as they sold Mingo’s Christmas wreaths and accepted donations for leaf raking around town.

The class, made up of 32 students, unanimously voted on a trip to Boston where they will enjoy a behind-the-scenes tour of Fenway Park, spend time at Six Flags near Springfield, MA and other activities in Portland.  Their three-day trip is slated for the end of the school year.

Tickets for a prize calendar are $10 each and drawings will take place each day next month.  All of the prizes have been donated by local businesses and the total value of all prizes is over $1,300.

The students wish to thank the following businesses and friends for their generous donations to the calendar:  The Olde Boston Shoe Store, First National Bank, Tradewinds Shop ‘n Save, Chip Smith and Pepsi, Dunkin Donuts, State Cinemas, Schooner Pub, Cabin Fever Embroidery, Portland Sea Dogs, Mercier’s Hair Salon, Subway, Johnson’s True Value, Jo’s Diner and Pizzeria, Crumbs Café and Bake Shoppe, Freshies, Thumos Barber Shop, Calais Motor Inn, Nook and Cranny Restaurant, Artemis’s Attic, The Calais Advertiser, Rachel Ashley Jewelers, Tractor Supply, PCT Communications, Calais Ace Homecenter, Eastbay Seafood, Caleb White and family, Lisa Tirrell with Thirty-One and Tupperware, Rebecca Robicheau with Lularoe and Color Street, Katie Grass with Mary Kay, Rob and Linda Talley with Juskiddin Acres, Amy Gaudet with Mamas Moon, and Diane Lord with Color Street.

Calendars can be purchased directly from any CMHS 8th grader or parent or at the school secretary Jamie Thigpen (jthigpen@calaisschools.org).  Freshies, Thumos Barber Shop, and Rachel Ashley Jewelers also have the prize calendar tickets for sale.
