Dennysville-Edmunds Congregational Church

The second Lenten Soup & Sermon gathering was held Monday at noon in the Dennysville-Edmunds Parish Hall.  The “sermon” was sung by the church’s choir, plus Fred and Linda Gralenski from the Pembroke Methodist Church.  Three hymns spoke in various ways of some of the subjects of Lenten, including our consideration of our sins, as well as our always growing understanding of who God is and how he comes to us.  Three soups were offered and many delicious breads, plus friendly fellowship.

The third S & S will be held at St. Joseph’s Catholic Church in Eastport in the St. Katherine Room at noon on Monday, March 5th - the specifics on the soups and the sermon vary from church to church, which is always interesting and fun to discover.

Next Sunday, March 4th, the congregation in Dennysville is hoping to be able to return to their sanctuary, following two months of conserving heat, by holding Sunday services in the Parish Hall.

The Parish Hall was all ready, following Soup & Sermon, being set up for this Saturday’s Monthly Breakfast, which will be enjoyed, as always, from 7 - 9 a.m. with pancakes, bacon, eggs, beans, toast, juice, coffee, and all the extras.  No one goes away hungry.

Beginning Friday morning, March 2nd, there will be another Lenten opportunity in a Bible Study and discussion that will have as its theme - Temptation.  To help in that discussion, there will be a consideration of some portions of the classic The Screwtape Letters, written by C. S. Lewis, from a senior devil to his nephew, Wormwood, on the methods and tricks for persuading a human not to believe in God.  It should be both interesting and enjoyable, not to mention, one hopes, helpful.  For more information, please call the pastors at 726-3905.
