Letter to the Editor

I am reading the Pentagon Papers written by Daniel Ellsberg. As he meticulously laid out the lies that our past presidents told us about war, I start to think about the lies that our government is telling us now. Kelly Conway stands up and says “those are just alternative facts” (common people call them lies). I wonder about the sustainability of a government that is built on lies. Our government lies to its people, its allies and its enemies. We are the government, and yet we tolerate it. We need to demand more from our leaders. It’s not that we don’t pay them well. They are supposed to be working for us, aren’t they? They need to step up their game and we need to hold them to their words.
